RED-HOT Fabian Dawkins yesterday scored his eighth goal in four matches, leading Village United to a 1-0 win over leaders Harbour View in their Wray and Nephew National Premier League (NPL) encounter yesterday at the Elliston-Wakeland Centre.
Dawkins found the winner against Harbour View in the 73rd minute to propel Trelawny-based Village to 10 points and fourth place in the League. They are five points behind leaders Harbour View and three behind Arnett Gardens and Waterhouse.
Dean Weatherly, coach of Village United, said his team needs victories to motivate the Trelawny faithfuls.
"I feel very good about this win. We need wins like these to get the fans into what we are doing," said Weatherly.
Harbour View's Donovan Hayles said despite maintaining the lead he was a disappointed man.
'PELE'S' DOUBLE
"I am very disappointed with the loss," said Hayles. "I do not think we played as well as we should have. The conditions were good. There was no breeze," he added.
In Kingston, Kevin 'Pele' Wilson, fresh from representing Montreal Impact in the Canadian League, scored twice as Arnett Gardens whipped arch rivals Tivoli Gardens 4-1 at the Tony Spaulding Sports Complex.
The Junglists moved to second in the table on goal difference ahead of Waterhouse.
Defending champions Portmore United had their game rained out and are relegated to fifth, ahead of Tivoli Gardens on goal difference.
The anticipated clash between the two promoted teams, Boys' Town and Seba, never materialised because Jarrett Park remains unavailable.
Boys' Town remain on six points but have two games in hand. Seba are two points behind on four points from six games.
Reno, with new coach Bradley Stewart at the helm, won their second game of the season defeating Constant Spring 3-1 at Frome.
Fabian Blake, Kevon Grant and Ricardo Scott carried Reno to a come-from-behind win. Evrol Headley had given Constant Spring the lead.
The Westmoreland team jumped to seventh in the league on seven points, the same as Rivoli, which squandered several goalscoring opportunities against Waterhouse to share the points.
Rivoli took a deserved lead in the 43rd minute when Devon Hodges slotted home from close range on a wet and soggy outfield.
However, Kevin Lamey wasn't to be denied and scored in the 80th minute to salvage a point for Waterhouse.
