A St. James vendor, who has been accused of chopping another vendor during an altercation about 'selling turf', will have to find a new vending location as a condition of his bail.
Mark Brown of William Street in Montego Bay, was granted bail in the sum of $50,000 yesterday in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court.
The conditions of his bail include reporting to the Freeport Police Station on Mondays, and not selling at the area where the complainant was selling.
Attorney-at-law Sharon Barnes, who represented Brown in her application for bail, told the court that there had been an altercation between the men but said that it was the complainant who had been the aggressor.
Brown is at present charged with wounding with intent. He is scheduled to return to court on March 5, as the medical report is still outstanding.
The prosecution is alleging that on December 20, the men had an argument about who should sell at the Bogue stoplights. Brown later saw the complainant on Barnett Street in Montego Bay and used a machete to hit the complainant under his eye.
The complainant in turn used a piece a wood and swung at the accused man, who used the machete to chop the complainant, severing his fingers and damaging his wrist and the back of his left hand.
